Shortest Distance: Volcanoes and the Pythagorean Theorem

Description

In this lesson, students will be able to find the hypotenuse (shortest distance between two points) using volcanoes as their lesson topic. They will research two active volcanoes and then determine their distance apart by using the Pythagorean Theorem. Students will practice their mapping as well as their research skills using Google Earth and other websites. This lesson contains adaptations for diverse learners (ELLs).
